DOS7HELP
--------

This is a replacement for the DOS HELP file, found on the Windows 9x CDROM.

QBASIC has a number of patches, such as the *.* rather than *.TXT and another
due to the Phatcode site, which prevents it looking for floppy drives every
time the file system is accessed. You can still access the floppy disks.

The DOS 5 editor is renamed QBED.COM. This allows access to the qbasic
editor even when some different program is called EDIT. A copy of Edit.com
is included. To use this Edit, rename EDIT.CO_ to EDIT.COM.

The DOS 6 help command is included. Because some programs like 4DOS, have an
internal command, there is a second access to the help command through DOS6.

EXTENT
------

The help file is intended as a single help file for MS-DOS 5 to 8, along with
some references to different commands in PC-DOS. There are additional files
on MS-DOS 6.3 and 7.1, as well as a guide to version numbers of the Microsoft
distributed utilities (mouse, mscdex, himem.sys, emm386, ramdrive, msd, and
smartdrive).

MS-DOS 6,3 is essentially a modified version of MS-DOS 6.22, with many of the
utilities modified. It is an extension of the OLDMSDOS idea, but covers all
of the differences to MS-DOS 6.22.

MS-DOS 7,1 is a modified version of the DOS 7.1 from Windows 98SE, with some
assorted patches and updates.
